Combined celebration to honour local business

Hamilton’s business success stories will be highlighted in a new forum.

The newly dubbed Celebration of Business will combine three awards ceremonies into one extended eight-hour event. Included in the observance will be the city’s Small Business Enterprise Centre’s Salute to Small Business, the economic development department’s recognition of property excellence in Hamilton’s business improvement areas and the Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Business Achievement Awards.

The day will start at 1 pm with the Salute to Small Business, featuring Ron Buist, former marketing director of Tim Hortons and creator of the Roll Up the Rim to Win promotion.

The property awards will be handed out at a reception from 4 pm to 5 pm, flowing right into the Chamber’s awards program from 5 pm to 9 pm

All the events will take place at Carmen’s Banquet and Convention Centre and the C-Hotel on Stone Church Road East.

It won’t be a day for the diet conscious — the Salute to Small Business event features a three-course lunch while the business achievement awards include a three-course dinner.

Tickets are $55 for the small business event, $100 for the chamber awards or $130 plus HST for all three.
